YOU CAN COPE WITH CANCER
I wish I had a magic formula to teach cancer victims and their families how to cope with cancer. We looked for such a formula without success when our seven-year-old daughter developed a stage-four malignant muscle tumor on her wrist.
One doctor said, "She may only have three months to live." Thankfully, she beat the cancer and endured a year of chemotherapy, including six weeks of radiation.
Through that traumatic experience we learned the best coping mechanism is knowledge. Knowing what to expect is, perhaps, the best way to cope with and survive the anxiety and unrelenting stress that accompanies a diagnosis of cancer and the ensuing treatments.
We hope you can benefit from our experience as we share... Each year 1.4 million people are diagnosed with cancer. Most choose to go through chemotherapy and related treatments. Few of them have any idea of what to expect. Neither did we when we learned our seven-year-old daughter had a malignant tumor of the muscle (alveolar rahbdomyosarchoma).
My husband and I immediately started looking for a book that would simply tell us what to expect going through chemotherapy. Finding none, I decided to write one .
